D.C.-area forecast: Less humid, quite nice today and into the weekend

A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

8/10: Low to mid-80s and decreasing humidity! Potentially conservative grading in case occasional clouds or breezes are a bit more of a detraction than anticipated.

  • Today: More sun than clouds. Breezy. Highs: Low-to-mid 80s.
  • Tonight: Mainly clear, less breeze. Lows: Mid-50s to low 60s.
  • Tomorrow: Sunny. Less breeze? Highs: Around 80 to mid-80s.
  • Sunday: Slight shower chance. Breezy. Highs: Within a few degrees of 80.

A solid couple of days ahead! Tomorrow may prove even sunnier than today. Sunday is again breezy, with perhaps a slight shower chance late day — nothing too significant if so. Temperatures, and even humidity for the most part, should remain in a fairly comfortable zone into next week.

Today (Friday): High temperatures aim for the low to mid-80s, with just a slightly increasing breeze from the west that could gust around 20 mph during the afternoon. We’re mainly sunny despite a few occasional clouds, which may focus on midday hours. Don’t worry about an umbrella! Humidity should drop from morning dew points in the 60s to comfortable 50s during the afternoon. Confidence: High

Tonight: Skies should stay mainly clear as breezes calm. Within continued comfortable humidity and cool low temperatures in the mid-50s to low 60s, maybe it’s an open windows kind of night. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Saturday): High confidence for lots of sunshine, which is a rarity on weekends of late. Breezes from the west and northwest should stay under 15 mph, but there’s a slight chance we see a few gusts above 20 mph (we’ll monitor). Temperatures top out around 80 to mid-80s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Partly cloudy conditions prevail. Breezes, if any, should die down very quickly. Temperatures could bottom out in a fairly wide range of mid-50s to mid-60s, especially if we maintain clear skies. Confidence: Medium-High

Sunday: We should see a good deal of morning and midday sun before clouds build up a bit. Slight shower chances are on the rise — possible almost anytime — but may mostly target mid-to-late-afternoon hours. Breezes from the west and northwest could gust as high as 20-25 mph a few times. With the potential for a bit more cloud cover than we’ve had recently, high temperatures may be halted within a few degrees of 80. Confidence: Medium

Sunday night: One or two evening stray showers are possible with skies clearing after that and breezes calming. We cool down to between upper 50s and mid-60s near sunrise. Confidence: Medium

Partly to mostly sunny skies Monday and Tuesday could still produce a few stray showers — perhaps even a storm — but nighttime hours may be the main rain target, as it looks so far. Stay tuned for forecast updates as we get closer, as more clouds may dampen daytime temperatures. So far, though, it may prove pleasant, within a few degrees of 80 for high temperatures and within a few degrees of 60 for low temperatures. Confidence: Medium
